What generally happens in a session?

Sessions take place on a mattress on the floor, though at times you may be lying down, sitting up or standing up. Normally we start by having a discussion about your general state of wellbeing, followed by a short body scan meditation. After this we enter the breathing session which lasts about an hour. I give instructions on the breathing technique as well as some other things to note. During the breathing session I work with you according to your specific needs, but it's likely to include movement, touch & bodywork (similar to acupressure), sound and occasional communication. It may also include TRE core release exercises and other bioenergetic exercises. After the session we have some time for a short discussion and debrief. I then offer you some advice for further exercises which you can do at home to suit your personal profile, and we discuss whether further sessions would be of benefit.

How long is a session?

90 minutes (normally 60 minutes breathing).

Will I really be able to deep breathe for an hour?!

Yes. It may seem daunting at first, but after about 5-10 minutes the breathing technique usually becomes automatic. If you have difficulty with it I will be giving regular instruction & encouragement.

How will I feel during the session?

You could feel pretty much anything... or nothing!

It's common to have strong physical sensations (tension, lightness / heaviness, hotness / coldness, pleasure, numbness, energetic or electric movement, cramping / 'pins & needles' or feeling of release). There is also a possibility of a range of emotions (sadness, anger, fear, happiness, pleasure, love), either in their raw form, or accompanied by a visual or auditory memories or impressions. You may also perceive colours, shapes & sounds, or have an out-of-body type experience. For most people the everyday chatter of the mind is quietened leaving a strong sense of peace (if not during the process then afterwards). 

It's best to go in with no expectations, but to remain expectant!

Where do you conduct the session?

In London, UK - either at my home in Hammersmith, my studio in Hackney, or at your own home - whichever is most convenient.

What are your rates?

1-to-1: £90/session or £375/5 session pack.

Private Group: Same as 1-to-1 + £15/person/session.

Community Group: £15/person/session.

Concessions are possible depending on your situation. I am also happy to discuss an exchange if you have a skill or therapy you'd like to offer.

How often should I have a session?

Though it’s possible to have a very powerful and effective individual session, if you feel this modality could help you it’s advisable to commit to a course of 5 sessions.  over the period of 1-2 months, with other specified exercises to be done at home in between sessions. After this period we would leave another similar period before assessing the practicality and usefulness of starting another intensive course. The BBTRS® method is designed to prompt the body to heal itself - this not an indefinite process!

Is it safe?

Working with trauma and stuck energy is by its very definition of a delicate nature, but when approached responsibly and sensitively breathwork is extremely safe and in my experience a beautiful and effective way to release all manner of blockages.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, certainly.

Are there any contra-indications?

Unfortunately I'm unable to practice BBTRS® with pregnant women, or those with a history of heart attacks, epilepsy, or glaucoma.
